The Natural Approach to Better Health

Maternity Care

Pregnancy is likely the most physically and emotionally demanding period a woman will go through over the course of her life. Over the span of 9 months during a normal pregnancy, virtually every woman experiences (in varying degrees) weight gain, changes in posture and significant changes in skeletal structure (e.g., hip placement,) increasing the importance for proper maternity care.

The physical and emotional stress generated during this period puts pressure on the nervous system and bring about pain, inflammation and other symptoms that cast a dark cloud over what is otherwise a beautiful and exciting moment in a woman’s life.

These symptoms can include:

  1. Morning sickness
  2. Sciatica
  3. Back, shoulder and hip and leg pain
  4. Lack of sleep
  5. Maternity Care

Buesing Family Chiropractic has specialized in prenatal care for nearly 20 years. Through customized programs and regular monitoring, many of the above listed symptoms of pregnancy can be greatly reduced without the need for drugs that not only mask the real issues, but may affect the development of the baby.

Initially, our program evaluates your spine and nervous system with a series of tests, including static emg’s to evaluate the muscle activity of your spine, and thermal scans to evaluate temperature readings or hot spots along your spine. Our programs then include massage to soothe and loosen muscle at the beginning of your visit followed by specific adjustments to relieve the stress on the nervous system. Dr. Jeff then performs periodic follow up tests to see how your body has reacted to these adjustments and to look for other issues as your body continues to evolve over the course of the pregnancy.

Dr. Jeffrey Buesing is trained and certified in the Webster Technique which is a specific adjustment that improves the mother’s pelvic alignment nervous system functions. The ligaments and pelvic muscles can balance and reduce stress to the uterus and allows for better fetal positioning.

This is a crucial correction which can help for those at risk for a cesarean section (c-section,) or those in increased pain caused by carrying a breech baby.
